about
SHOTGUN is the pseudo soundtrack to a dystopian Denis Villeneuve-directed film about a renegade, Panamanian-American cowboy fighting for survival amidst the global pandemic of 2078. Think ‘Last Of Us’ meets ‘Bladerunner’ meets ‘Black Society’. This track is an interpretation of Jr. Walker & The All Star’s unexpected 1965 smash hit, which famously turned a dance craze (“the shotgun”) into an anti-violence crossover anthem which is equal parts hypnotic and danceable. The “triple threat” of stage, screen & studio Rogelio Douglas, Jr. (award-winning resident artist at Quincy Jones’ club in Dubai) voices this recording, and it’s produced by music supervisor-turned-producer MixMason and Korean-Swedish wünderkind LILO. Sassy sax from LA’s Donnie Gee. It will appear in the upcoming Showtime docs-series ‘How The Tables Have Turned’ - produced for and by DJs. Forthcoming Remix EP featuring Tony Quattro (NYC), Tyron Woods (South Africa) and Void Stryker (Turkey). Thank you for listening!
lyrics
Put on your red dress
And then you go downtown now
I said, buy yourself a shotgun
We’re gonna break it down baby now
